Main responsibilities:

Carmen leads the team responsible for global sovereign and emerging
markets corporate research, aiding the advancement of Aviva Investors’
Fixed Income capabilities and supporting strong investment
performance across portfolios.

A specialist in frontier markets, she partners closely with portfolio
managers to identify differentiated investment opportunities. Her
approach is fundamentals led and highly disciplined, turning complex
country dynamics into clear, actionable investment decisions.

Experience and qualifications:

Carmen began her investment industry career at Nedbank in South Africa
as an economist in 2006. She then moved to Fitch Ratings in London as a
Director covering African and Eastern European sovereigns, travelling
extensively to build close links with policymakers.

Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Carmen led global emerging market
sovereign credit analysis at AXA Investment Managers, with a particular
focus on frontier markets.

She holds a master’s degree (cum laude) in Economics from the
University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
